The day has been shitty and my mental health is detoriating, but in my position of being the first thing new people see, I don't want to drag new users into it, so I feel like I can't even really talk about it.
@Gargron Also, keep in mind that you live in this bubble called Mastodon that you created, and issues that exist within them are smaller than they might seem. It's very easy to lose perspective in such a situation. I ran a site with a few thousand users once and went pretty deep down the rabbit hole, and that site became my life for a while, and it wasn't healthy. Intrigues, power plays and drama all around, but it was a storm in a glass of water.
@Gargron In any way you can, do not let your ego be defined by this thing that you created. This applies especially if you didn't have many notable accomplishments on record before this, because you run the risk of putting all your self-esteem eggs in one basket, again amplifying issues that exist within this universe out of proportion, because you've let it define you. Maybe this isn't the case, but it's something to keep in mind.
