I picked up Affinity Photo recently to escape Adobe Creative Cloud. I refuse to pay a subscription for software that's installed on my own computer. I'm considering getting Affinity Design as well, to have vector graphics covered. I prefer paying a modest sum to support a small European company over repeated payments to feed the Adobe beast.
@thor that'S a good start. But you could also try Open Source products like Krita or Inkscape. Available for Windows, Mac and Linux. And donate to the creators what you think it is worth for you. This is good stuff. I used to use Autodesk and Adobe stuff professionally and switched to Open Source few years ago. Freedom.

@thor Yes, I am so grateful I got PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator 5.5 for Windows. I mostly live on Macs these days but I can jump on my Windows box if I need to do some photo editing. I got it at the student price and now I'll have it forever. The subscription thing is such robbery for individuals, small businesses and the like.
