Facebook just kicked its affected users figure for Cambridge Analytica up from 50 million to 87 million.
@NicolasConstant @thor Right. Was just thinking that the real number doesn't even really matter at this point... it's the principle... The thing is, even the affected users won't ever get compensated in any way so...
Yeah, it's awful anyway.
I'm just surprised that in 2018 we see in the news "OMG 50M profiles!" when in 2017 we already knew it was much more.
@NicolasConstant @mareklach They can't be talking about the same figures...
Huge datamining/psychometrics in order to send personalized propaganda messages? Seems to be the same issue for me.
(Or did I miss something?)
@NicolasConstant @thor Hhmm...seems to be one and the same thing... also... if knew revelations about it came out this year, you would think that it wouldn’t be last year’s figure that’s actually bigger ... weird...
@NicolasConstant @thor Yeah, and we knew about Cambridge Analytica data mining and political manipulation from at least like July last year. So the fact that everyone is freaking about it just now seems weird...
@thor Woah I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing!
@thor they are desperately trying not to admit it was/is ALL facebook users.
@thor Cambridge Analytica analysed about 220 millions profiles (early 2017 source : https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/mg9vvn/how-our-likes-helped-trump-win )...
