Uh oh. My sciatic nerve is acting up again. I'm feeling a dull pain down the side of my right leg. It's been about 8 months since my lumbar disc slip. They say you shouldn't sit for too long since it compresses your spine, but I'm a computer programmer. What the hell am I supposed to do? The closest I've gotten to a solution so far is to be very picky about chairs and to sit on a pillow to put less pressure on my tail bone, but I don't think it's enough.
@theru Not possible in my current work environment.
@thor It could help when you have a table with variable height to work alternating stand up and on your chair.
@thor ok, then you have to stand up for a small walk around your desk quite often...
@thor i'm using this since 2 years and thing are really better now! https://www.varierfurniture.com/en_it/our-chairs/kneel/variable-balans-r
PS it's norwegian too! :D
@silkevicious Did you have lumbar problems? I've been looking for the manufacturer of those chairs for a while. I think I tried one of their older models in at my dad's former workplace when I was much younger, and it was interesting.
@thor
Yes, i had an infiammation of tendons between my lumbar zone and groin zone (i don't know the translation in english) but the pain was spreading from abdominals up to the knees. That infiammation (due to wrong chairs/posture) caused my spine to be less curved than usual, so spine disk compressed a nerve (that caused the pain down to the knees). It took about 6 months of stretching, some physio sessions and that chair to heal.
@thor Try to avoid keeping thing (like a wallet) in back pocket?
Is a standing desk an option?
@thor
Potentially a hybrid stand/sit desk?
