I wish I knew what the hell is going in at Apple. They are releasing shit products ever since Jobs died. Their hardware is expensive, but they got everything I cared about exactly right, in a way that Wintel and Android never did. Now though? God damn it, Apple. You were my comfortable escape from the Windows trap. I don't have viable alternatives for you. Android and Windows are still shit; I can't go back to them. I am so fucked.

@thor linux is fast approaching "good enough, if not better" territory, especially with something curated like manjaro

@Alonealastalovedalongthe @hector I usually mention "mainstream creative professional software" in the same breath as macOS to avoid getting bombarded with friendly but unhelpful mentions of Linux, but I was getting tired of repeating it, so I dropped it. Now I will instead have to be tired of listening to people recommending Linux to me. If I was a coder only, and also wasn't bothered by basic parts of the user experience being absent, Linux would be fine.

@hector @Alonealastalovedalongthe It's the (not so) little things, like installing Ubuntu and finding that I can't get the WiFi to work, and then fiddling with settings for hours and STILL not getting it to work. Then I try to attach an external monitor. Oh, hey, this webcam works but only a shoddy home-made config tool exists for it. Oops, I need something that isn't GIMP for image editing. Etc etc etc etc...

@Alonealastalovedalongthe @hector I abandoned Windows because even the relative ease of use that Windows offers was giving me headaches at time. Linux is for people who still think troubleshooting is fun. It's been at least a decade since solving technical problems was a thing that I enjoyed. Now I just want the damned thing to work, and I'm willing to pay good money for it too.

@hector @Alonealastalovedalongthe And I don't say this as a person that hasn't tried to install Linux recently. I say it as a person who *has* tried recently and am still finding it to be a non-smooth ride. Excellent for servers and homebrew projects with an RPI and even as the foundation of a mobile OS (Android) and in routers and God knows what... But not quite what I want as a daily driver.

@thor @hector Ok, fine. Don't try linux. I am totally fine with that. I am. You have to at least try IPAs though. Craft bear bro.
