I once walked out of a movie that my girlfriend's uncle had paid the tickets for. I thought it was a terrible movie, and snuck out during a toilet break.
The movie was G.I. Joe.
My girlfriend was very upset about this and an argument erupted in the parking lot.
Who was right?
@thor I mean that is kinda rude, but understandable
@NotTheRealKevin I was in my 20s at the time. My logic then was that I could just let them enjoy the movie, and wait in the parking lot. Had my European cellphone worked in the United States, I could have tried to text her, but I doubt it would've prevented the argument in the parking lot. I was never a good liar, so my less charitable traits have always been a bit too easy to spot for other people.
@NotTheRealKevin It probably did not help that, because she began yelling at me in front of said uncle the moment she came out of the cinemaplex, I was caught off guard, and told the blunt truth instead of making up a white lie.
@NotTheRealKevin Well, it was her uncle's work (but that doesn't exactly improve the matter). But there's the thing: It's actually the first time I had ever walked out of a movie. Hell, I didn't even know what proper etiquette for such a situation was, because I had never encountered it before.
@thor I think the fact that it was GI Joe makes it okay. That was an atrocious movie. 🤣
