I wonder what it says about me that, although I'm a proficient senior developer, I hardly ever write any code on my spare time anymore, and I don't really talk about computer science on social media.

It's called having other interests in addition to programming 😉
@skypage As it turned out, of all my skills, programming was always the one in high demand, which more or less forced my hand. I tried applying for other jobs, but it was almost as if hiring managers could sense that I belonged in IT.

I'm a tinkerer by nature, so programming turned out to be an excellent fit. And yeah, the compensation definitely helps in terms of fueling other interests outside of work, whether programming related or otherwise
@skypage It wasn’t necessarily the career path I wanted in terms of having an exciting job. On the other hand, it’s a cushy job that pays handsomely, and my other interests have not been corrupted by money concerns.
