I'm not a troll. I'm really not. There's just something terribly disturbing about the way content warnings are used on here. My interest in politics defines me as a person, and asking me to conceal it with a "warning" is an infuriatingly offensive request to make. It implies that my thoughts are somehow uncouth and shouldn't be shared in public. How outraged wouldn't the leftist instances be if a right-wing instance demanded warnings on gay pride statuses?
@thor Some people want to be walled in, no matter the nature of their instance, virtual or otherwise. Staying on Facebook doesn't ensure such a space--Everyone and their mother and their brother and their cousin are on Facebook and there are so many settings that people don't seem to realize that you can simply "Unfollow" someone without removing them from their Friends list.
@thor Soooo, most of the people on here are a bunch of lefties?
@stochastix @thor Stop the left. Go for the truth.
@stochastix Let's put it like this: I'm from what Americans would call a socialist country and I'm seeing stuff on Mastodon that goes further left than that. Personally I'm a bit of a centrist techno-libertarian.
@thor I would appreciate it if you are going to be rational, that you put it behind a cw. Thanks :p
@thor I think that is because Warning is almost an emotive word, it might not be the best word for what the CW is. Though I am not sure of an alternative.
Some instances will suspend federation with your instance if you don't comply. Don't they understand that they are walling themselves in? Don't they understand that they are recreating the filter bubbles they hate so much? If they want to remain in a bubble and never see anything that disagrees with them, they should consider going back to Facebook.
