Terrible stuff has been happening to the Norwegian Pirate Party since 2013. First, money was embezzled by the Secretary General. The new Secretary General and de-facto leader of the party is a bulldog who brands anyone who motions for a vote of no confidence "part of the anarchist group" and suspends them. The irony of accusing Pirates of being anarchists is completely lost on them. Having eliminated all resistance, it looks like their grab for power will succeed. #PirateParty
Clarification: The Secretary General who embezzled money was a different person to the one who is appointed now. This new person's "platform" is basically that he wants to clean up and professionalize the party. Whatever that means, it apparently involves suspending local chapters and founding new ones in their place without inviting any of the old members. All the undesirables are being eliminated by force. #PirateParty
The protocols from the party's board meetings have become bizarre. They're not so much documenting proceedings anymore as they are serving as a personal vehicle for the Secretary General. #PirateParty #Norway
As far as anyone can tell, his platform is that he's a pro-establishment person who wants to promote privacy rights and other typical Pirate Party issues. It's just that he has zero patience for the DIY/hacker/FOSS types who built the party, and sees them as a threat. #PirateParty #Norway
There are other people than me who can provide more explicit details and evidence of wrongdoing. I just wish something could be done. Having arguments with the board gets us nothing but more suspensions. There will be a General Assembly soon. They are using suspensions tactically and are inviting specific people only, both in order to secure a majority. #PirateParty #Norway
